CVT  - an overview

The overall principles

These principles serve as the foundation for healthy voice production and apply to all types of vocalisation, regardless of genre. Importantly, they do not prescribe any particular sound but focus on the mechanics of voice use.

The four vocal modes

The four modes — Neutral, Curbing, Overdrive, and Edge — represent the different “gears” of the voice.
Each mode is distinguished by its unique characteristics, offering flexibility for various vocal styles.

Sound color

Once a mode is chosen, we focus on the sound color. Each tone can be adjusted to be either brighter or darker, independent of the mode, providing further control over vocal expression.

Effects

Effects are used to emphasize a particular aspect of a song, enhance expression, or convey a specific style. While they all can be applied in a healthy way, it’s crucial to first master the foundational techniques to ensure a solid and sustainable sound.
